Selina Hilliard is a driven young woman who managed to raise her GPA each year. She competed on the basketball team, the indoor and outdoor track teams, and the bowling team. Giving back to her community was routine for Selina. She volunteered her time to help out young bowlers in the Evanston Special Needs Recreation Bowling League. Selina also helped run tryouts for the FAAM youth basketball league, worked behind the scenes at the Ricky Byrdsong Race Against Hate, volunteered regularly as a blood donor, and served as a founder of Give-A-Child-A-Smile. Selina is pursuing her education at Tennessee State University and will major in business.
Savannah Turner worked to achieve academically and serve others. Though the academic transition to high school was difficult for Savannah, she was able to persevere and find academic distinction, including National Honor Society. She was a member of the volleyball and badminton teams and a leader in community service. She joined the Community Service Club her freshman year and served a Co-Chair of the Fund Raising and Philanthropy committee, eventually serving as President. Savannah is pursuing her education at Wesleyan University, pursuing a major in environmental studies.
Alim Barnes-Gaskin enjoyed a very successful career at Montclair High School where he excelled in leadership. He was President of Montclair’s National Organization for Women, leading human rights discussions, participated in the Roche ProMentoring Program that conducted extensive research on how to provide realistic, healthier food choices to high schoolers; and tutored many middle school students in math and English. He also participated in Track and Fencing. He’s pursuing his 4 yr degree at Oxford College of Emory University.
